The goal of this course is to provide a thorough review of anesthesia, covering both clinical and subspecialty anesthesia. Coverage of the most prevalent co-morbidities related to anesthesia as well as the fundamental science of anesthesia are included in perioperative medicine.

Program Goals
Attending will enable you to:

Handle difficulties relating to anesthesia that include airway control, anesthetic supplies, and possible disastrous events in the operating room.
Address the anesthetic concerns of patients having surgery for ENT, neurologic, thoracic, cardiovascular, hematologic, or urologic diseases.
Describe the difficulties in administering anesthetic to young patients, those in critical condition, pregnant women, and anyone experiencing either acute or chronic pain.
Enumerate the procedures for a thorough patient assessment prior to surgery.
Determine the problems that arise from anesthesia in ambulatory care centers, such as temperature control, post-op nausea and vomiting, and sleep apnea consequences.
Examine critically the pharmacology and clinical indications of opioids, injectable anesthetics, inhaled anesthetics, and neuromuscular blocks.
