Stress: Genetics, Epigenetics and Genomics, the fourth volume in the Handbook of Stress series, explores the impact of genetics, epigenetics, and genomics on the consequences and reactions to stress. The chapters discuss epigenetic mechanisms including histone modification, DNA methylation, and/or silencing or activation of noncoding RNA-associated genes. The role of epigenetic mechanisms in stress-related transgenerational trait transmission is also discussed, along with how these mechanisms might contribute to the understanding of heredity in certain complicated human disorders.Elsevier’s Encyclopedia of Stress (2000 and 2007) was followed by the Handbook of Stress series, which consists of self-contained books covering different areas of stress.
