Comprehensive information on the assessment of a normal foetal heart from both anatomical and functional perspectives is provided in this CME teaching activity. Comprehensive details regarding early gestational cardiac imaging and foetal echocardiography using three-dimensional ultrasound are provided. Comprehensive examination of several cardiac malformations, including anomalies of the heart chambers and outflow tracts, is also provided by this activity.
Learning Goals
After completing this CME teaching exercise, you ought to be capable of:
Talk about the use cases for foetal echocardiography, go over current protocols, and examine patient counselling strategies.
Enhance ultrasound technology to use Doppler and 2D in foetal echocardiography.
Examine the typical anatomy of the foetal heart.
Describe the anomalies in the foetal heart’s venous system.
Talk in-depth about cardiac chamber anomalies, such as septal defects and left and right ventricular anomalies.
Examine in-depth the anomalies of the outflow tracts, such as the abnormalities of the aortic arch, transposition of the major arteries, and tetralogy of Fallot complex.
